Welcome, Peter!
In the sage words of Luke: “Four boys is a LOT of boys!” Yes. Yes, Luke, it is a lot of boys. But certainly – definitely – not too many.
Peter Stephen was born to us late yesterday afternoon. He arrived in good health and Mamma is well.
We’ve had a family joke these last few weeks that goes something like this: “When do you think the baby will be born?” Answer: “On its birthday!” I asked Daniel that on Friday morning. He crinkled his nose, smirked and said “On its birthday!” We laughed together over the breakfast table before Gabe said thoughtfully “I hope the baby is born today.” Daniel grew serious and piped up “No! I want the baby to be born on its birthday!” I don’t know how so, but apparently at age 4 it’s logical that one might suffer the social faux pas of failing to be born on one’s birthday. We laughed even harder after that.
Come to find out Daniel was correct! Neither Rachel nor I realized when naming him that his birthday is the Feast of Saint Peter until someone else pointed it out after the fact. Gabe would also be correct, as Peter was born later on that same day.
He’s a big boy, pushing the scale to 10 pounds 2 ounces. Poor little (ha?) guy didn’t even fit into any of the newborn hats the hospital had available. It’s a good thing he has a homesteading Dad that knows how to knit.
We are thankful, and never unaware by just how much we have been been blessed.
“I sing for JOY at the works of your hands!”
Psalm 92:4
